THE Oxford Mail player ratings after Oxford United were dumped out of the Carabao Cup in a 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Bristol City.

JAMES BEADLE

A tough evening for the teenager, who kept the scoreline lower by making a handful of saves, including denying Jason Knight when the former Derby County midfielder was one-on-one – 5

FIN STEVENS

The first three goals came down his side, while a poor touch led to the second of the evening. Produced a nice floated cross for Billy Bodin’s equaliser – 4

ELLIOTT MOORE

A lot of the Robins danger came down the flanks, but he was sucked in too easily by Haydon Roberts on the left for the hosts’ third goal – 4.5

JORDAN THORNILEY

A loose pass towards the end of the first half saw Nakhi Wells and Knight get a free run at goal, but the latter was denied by Beadle – 4.5

CIARON BROWN

After the disappointment of the display at Cambridge United, another worrying showing from the club’s most regular performer last season. BOOKED – 4

CAMERON BRANNAGAN

A loose ball to Thorniley allowed Knight and Wells in behind for the fourth goal. Cut a hugely frustrated figure with what was going on around him – 4.5

MARCUS MCGUANE

Made it far too easy for Anis Mehmeti to get his cross in for the second goal. Was arguably the brightest spark during the opening exchanges with forward passes getting U’s into good areas – 5

STANLEY MILLS

Hopefully a valuable learning experience at both ends of the pitch. The Everton loanee didn’t track the run of Mehmeti in the lead-up to the opener, while at the other end, should’ve done better when sent through on goal with the scores level – 4

BILLY BODIN

Involved in everything that was good early in the first half and took his header well. MAN OF THE MATCH – 6

TYLER GOODRHAM

Played from the left rather than his usual right-hand side, and was relatively bright during the early part of the game – 5

GATLIN O’DONKOR

Was strong on the ball up front but had no real sniff of goal – 4.5

SUBSTITUTES

Josh Murphy (for Mills, 57)

Was ineffective after coming on and failed to get into the game. BOOKED – 4

Ruben Rodrigues (for Bodin, 57)

Created a chance for Mark Harris and showed some nice touches when he came on. BOOKED – 5

Mark Harris (for O’Donkor, 57)

Saw an effort hit straight at Robins keeper Max O’Leary when he probably should’ve done better – 4.5

Sam Long (for Goodrham, 67)

Came on as a right-sided centre back as Liam Manning reverted to a back five – 4

Stephan Negru (for Thorniley, 80)

Unused: Eastwood, Smyth, Woltman, Took-Oxley.

Substitutes who come on after the 75th minute do not get a rating.
