OXFORD City have signed former Crystal Palace midfielder Nya Kirby.

The 23-year-old was a part of the England side which won the Under-17 World Cup in 2017, playing alongside the likes of Phil Foden, Jadon Sancho, Conor Gallagher, Morgan Gibbs-White and Marc Guehi.

Kirby scored the winning penalty in the shoot-out against Japan in the round of 16, and featured in the 5-2 win against Spain in the final.

He was released by Palace last summer, while his stay at Selhurst Park included loan spells with Blackpool and Tranmere Rovers.

After signing for the Hoops, he told the club website: “I’ve been here since the beginning of pre-season and I’ve loved working with Ross [Jenkins, head coach] and the team. I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.

“It’s been very easy to settle in, there’s a great group of lads here.

“It’s a great platform for me to come and play in. I watched some games last season and they played some amazing football.

“I’m here to help us do as well as we can. I can’t wait to get started.”
