OXFORD United are set to announce the signing of former loanee Jordan Thorniley later today, the Oxford Mail understands.
The 26-year-old centre back’s contract with Blackpool comes to an end this month.
Thorniley joined the U’s on a season-long loan for the 2021/22 campaign, but he was recalled by the then Sky Bet Championship side on January 24 when the Seasiders faced an injury crisis at the back.
Prior to his recall, he had made 25 appearances for United, all of them starts.
Last season, Thorniley played 33 times for Blackpool in all competitions, scoring once in a 6-1 victory at home to Queens Park Rangers.
The Tangerines were relegated from the Championship after a two-year stay, finishing 23rd and five points adrift of safety.
