A GOALKEEPER at the centre of a red card debate has been included in a ‘team of the week’.

Oxford United head coach Liam Manning was left frustrated by the refereeing performance after Bolton Wanderers goalkeeper James Trafford only received a yellow card for a foul on Kyle Joseph when the sides met at the weekend.

During the first half of the weekend’s clash, Trafford charged out of his goal and wiped out Joseph close to the edge of the penalty area.

Referee Seb Stockbridge showed the goalkeeper a yellow card, much to the frustration of the U’s supporters and Manning.

United’s boss said after the game: “I have to be careful what I say – the performance from the referee was atrocious.

“He just got too many wrong today and when you look at it, clubs will suffer and jobs will suffer.

“There’s so much on the line – you can’t referee a game like that, it’s terrible.”

Trafford however has been included in both the Sky Bet League One ‘team of the week’ and the Football League Paper’s ‘League One team of the day’.

He kept a clean sheet for Wanderers in their 1-0 win at the Kassam Stadium, making a number of routine saves as the U’s failed to find a way though the visitors’ defence.

Stats after the game revealed that United had 24 shots, however only seven were on target.
