Oxford United watch on this weekend as results in League One could see them drop into the relegation places.

United sit in 19th place just two points clear of the bottom four.

Liam Manning’s side will not play today as their game against Cheltenham Town was postponed due to international call-ups.

Elliot Bonds (Guyana), Luke Southwood (Northern Ireland) and Elkan Baggott (Indonesia) were all called up by their countries.

With what would have been Manning’s first home game postponed their relegation rivals have a chance to leapfrog United.

Manning’s former club, MK Dons host Morecambe in a relegation six-pointer at the bottom of the table.

Meanwhile, Accrington Stanley travel to mid-table Exeter City.

Morecambe sit 22nd on 34 points, Accrington 21st on 35 points, MK Dons 20th on 36 points with United 19th on 37 points.

United will find themselves slip into the bottom four if Accrington and MK Dons both pick up three points.

Manning is planning to travel to Peterborough to watch their clash against Derby.

United face Posh away in their next game on April 1 where they could find themselves in the relegation places before kick-off.

However, Manning remained calm about the situation and says it doesn’t change what United have to do.

Manning said: “I am going to a game on Saturday, as will my staff at the weekend.

“It’s really important we get eyes on games.

“I am off to watch Peterborough so I will watch them this weekend

“For me, if it happens it happens. It doesn’t change our situation and position.

“We need to win as many games as we can out of the next nine.”

In his first game in charge, Manning was just three minutes away from picking up a vital three points against Morecambe.

Morecambe equalised late on through Ash Hunter’s 87th-minute goal levelled Marcus Browne’s first-half opener.

United’s new assistant head coach Chris Hogg said the two-week break will be really good in allowing him and Manning to implement their ideas into the squad.

Manning echoed this and believes their ideas are starting to translate on the training pitch.

He said: “Energy has been on training this week.

“There are so many things I think we need to do with the group.

“They have responded really well to that, I have to say.

“They have progressively got better with the bits we have worked on.”

He continued: “When you don’t practise with intensity every day, don’t practise winning every day and you don’t practise fighting, scrapping and training to your maximum every day, you can’t then expect a spike and perform on a Saturday.

“It’s something you have to live every day.”
