OXFORD City further strengthened their place in the Vanarama National League South play-off positions with a win on home soil.

Josh Parker scored the only goal of game after just two minutes as the Hoops beat relegation battlers Cheshunt at Court Place Farm.

The win sees City stay third, eight points inside the top seven.

For 32-year-old Parker meanwhile, it was his 16th league goal of the season in what has been a brilliant campaign for the club after signing in September.

In National League North, Banbury United extended their winless run to seven after their 1-0 defeat away to play-off chasing Chorley.

Scott Wilson ensured the Lancashire side claimed all three points when he struck seven minutes into the second half.

It means the Puritans are 18th in the table, five points above the relegation zone.

Andy Whing’s side do however have at least one game in hand on every team in the division aside from ninth-placed Alfreton Town.

North Leigh missed the chance to get out of the Southern League Premier South relegation zone after a 4-2 defeat at Salisbury.

Didcot Town remain third in Southern League Central Division despite a 1-0 loss at home to Hadley.

Kidlington drew 1-1 at Waltham Abbey, while Thame United lost 3-2 at Biggleswade Town.
