Former Cardiff City boss Steve Morison is interested in the Oxford United managerial job, according to reports.

As reported by the Football League World, the 39-year-old is "keen" on the vacancy after six months out of work.

Morison has been out of work since September after he was sacked by Cardiff City where he was in charge for 11 months.

Before taking over from Mick McCarthy at the Bluebirds, Morrison was in charge of the club's under-23s.

Prior to his time at Cardiff, he worked as an academy coach at Northampton Town and Millwall.

After winning 16 of his 45 matches at Cardiff, he was relieved of his duties and replaced by Mark Hudson.

As a player, Morrison made 697 career appearances playing as a striker scoring 242 goals for clubs such as Millwall, Norwich City and Leeds United as well as representing Wales on 20 occasions.

Ex-United manager Michael Appleton and former U's coach Des Buckingham, currently in charge of Mumbai City have both been linked with the role.

Whilst Sunderland under-21’s manager Graeme Murty is reportedly on the club's shortlist.

Former Liverpool and England striker Robbie Fowler is also one of the bookmakers' favourite for the job.
