Oxford United are on the lookout for a new head coach following the club's decision to relieve Karl Robinson of his position.

The announcement came yesterday after the U's s lost 3-0 at home to Bristol Rovers on Saturday afternoon, their seventh defeat in eight matches.

The club is currently weighing up their options in the search for a new manager as the existing coaching staff of Craig Short, Leon Blackmore-Such and Wayne Brown take charge of the first team in the meantime.

Speculation has already started regarding who will replace Robinson.

Former United manager, Michael Appleton is the bookies' favourite for the role with him out of a job after being sacked as head coach at Blackpool in January.

His odds are 10/11, according to BetVictor at the time of writing.

Shrewsbury Town manager, Steve Cotterill is the next favourite for the job, with odds of 4/1.

Ex-Peterborough United boss Grant McCann and former QPR head coach are also in contention for the role, with odds at 12/1.

Former Charlton Athletic and Birmingham City manager Lee Bowyer is also priced at 16/1 alongside ex-Cardiff City boss Dean Whitehead.

Names such as Chris Wilder, Nathan Jones, Dean Smith and Neil Lennon are being priced at 25/1.

Robbie Fowler, who was spotted at United training last summer and whose son, Jacob, recently joined United’s academy as a scholar is being priced as an outsider at 33/1.
