THE Oxford Mail player ratings after Oxford United slumped to a fourth consecutive defeat by losing 1-0 at home to Shrewsbury Town in Sky Bet League One.
SIMON EASTWOOD
Made a great save to deny Tom Bloxham shortly before the goal. Distribution was poor at times though – 7
SAM LONG
Solid showing at right back, particularly during the first half when United were much the stronger side. BOOKED – 6.5
ELLIOTT MOORE
Won his fair share of aerial duels and relished the physical battle. BOOKED – 6.5
CIARON BROWN
A couple of very wayward long balls which went out of play but otherwise a relatively assured performance at the back – 6
BRANDON FLEMING
Another who was impressive in the first half but dropped in the second period like most of the side did – 6
LEWIS BATE
A significant return to form seemingly helped by a deeper role, where he could get on the ball and dictate play. MAN OF THE MATCH – 8
TYLER GOODRHAM
Positive showings from the bench have warranted a start, and he was full of energy and attacking intent – 7.5
BILLY BODIN
Role in the system got the best out of him. U’s never really recovered after he went off injured – 7
MARCUS MCGUANE
Playing further up the pitch unlocked him in attack and showed what he can do in an advanced position. Unlucky not to score on a couple of occasions – 7.5
YANIC WILDSCHUT
Had the beating of his marker a couple of times but couldn’t convert that into anything productive in the final third – 6
KYLE JOSEPH
Ended up playing a variety of positions, and was unlucky with a first half shot which hit the post – 7
“Right now, everyone’s got every right to be disappointed.”
