OISIN Smyth has secured a loan move from Oxford United.

The 22-year-old midfielder has joined Vanarama National League side Solihull Moors on an initial month-long loan.

The West Midlands outfit are 11th in the National League, two points outside the play-off places.

The move to the Moors follows unsuccessful attempts at Smyth finding first team football this season.

In October, he injured his hamstring just as he was about to head out on loan to an unnamed National League side.

United head coach Karl Robinson said at the time: “We need to see him playing in England to get a reputation, to get a League Two loan for this season, so that he’s ready for the summer, to compete with us the following year.”

Last month, Smyth had a trial at a Sky Bet League Two club, with the aim of securing a loan move until the end of the season.

However, no deal could be struck.

Since joining the U’s from Northern Ireland side Dungannon Swifts on deadline day last January, Smyth has played just two games for the club.
