KARL Robinson believes Jodi Jones is currently better than Tyler Goodrham, but is giving the latter more playing time due to his potential higher ceiling.

Oxford United’s head coach was asked at the fans’ forum earlier this week why Malta international Jones hasn’t been given too many opportunities since signing from Coventry City in the summer.

The 25-year-old has made eight appearances for the U’s, while representing his country four times since making his international debut in September.

Robinson said: “If I played Jodi before Tyler, we’d have another uproar that he’s taken the place of one of our young academy players.

“I believe Tyler Goodrham will be better than Jodi Jones.

“Right now, Jodi is ahead of Tyler but I’m willing to take the hit for that young man’s career because I think he could be the future, if not right now.

“With the likes of Josh Murphy coming back fit and Yanic Wildschut, his [Goodrham’s] game time might be limited because the high-level players are coming back fit, and are above him at this current time.

“Tyler is an infectious young man with still so much to learn.

“I’m still not 100 per cent sure which side he’s best playing.”
