It’s been a week where the fans have been talking about Arsenal and the players have been talking about Accrington!

Obviously drawing Arsenal at home in the FA Cup is fantastic for our supporters but it’s a month away and we have a lot of football to play before we truly turn our attention to that match.

There was a bit of a chat about it when we all came in on Tuesday morning but then it has been all eyes on today’s game.

We have been on a decent run and are now eight games unbeaten but the month ahead looks tough, not just in terms of the opposition but also the travel.

Away games at Accrington, Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich are going to test the resilience of our fans, who are going to have to travel up and down the country, and spend their hard-earned money on tickets as well as travel.

Our job is to reward that support, entertain them if we can, but also make sure that at the turn of the year we are in contention in the league table.

We started the season slowly but have gradually looked more and more like our old selves in recent weeks.

That has been helped by players coming back from injury, and today we may well have Yanic Wildschut and Josh Murphy in contention.

The one time we saw them both play together was in a pre-season friendly at AFC Wimbledon where they joined Marcus Browne in a three behind Matty Taylor, and looked threatening every time they went forward.

Ten minutes in a friendly is nowhere near enough time but the good thing is that we don’t have to rush them back into the team.

For once, we have serious competition for places and if today is the right time, and we think they will help us win the game, then we will include them in the side. If not, then we will be patient.

However, if any team in the division signed those two, Sam Baldock and Kyle Joseph in January, you would sit up and take notice.

If those four are available again then we have had a pretty decent transfer widow even before it has opened!

But that’s for the future. For now, let’s just keep things going as they have been – quietly and efficiently – and with the team gathering momentum and winning football matches.
