OXFORD United have been drawn at home to Premier League leaders Arsenal in the third round of the Emirates FA Cup.

The Gunners are five points clear at the summit of the top tier, and have won the FA Cup a record number of times.

The North London outfit have lifted the FA Cup on 14 occasions, last doing so when they beat Chelsea in 2020.

The U’s edged past Vanarama National League side Woking in a rearranged first round clash in Surrey earlier this month.

The tie was due to take place on November 6, but was called off due to a waterlogged pitch and pushed back 10 days.

Billy Bodin gave United the lead, touching home from a matter of yards, but Woking immediately got back into the first round clash through a stunning strike from Rohan Ince.

Tyler Goodrham restored the one-goal advantage for the U’s seven minutes after the break when he slid the ball past Craig Ross in the Woking goal, as United claimed a 2-1 win.

The U’s cruised past Exeter City in the second round with a glut of late goals at the weekend.

Matty Taylor gave United a first half lead, before Bodin struck twice in the second period, either side of a strike from Cameron Brannagan.

The three goals in the second half all came in a nine-minute period.

Exeter scored a late consolation to add some element of respectability to the scoreline.

After beating Exeter, when asked who he would like to face in the third round, United head coach Karl Robinson said: “You want to bring a big team here, it’s what generates the next generation of the fanbase.

“Bringing a big team here always gives you that opportunity to galvanise that fanbase.

“I always like a big team at home rather than a big team away from home.”

Third round ties will take place across the weekend of January 7, with winning clubs netting £105,000.
