LIAM Gilbert is hoping his Oxford United Women side have learnt from their lessons last season in the FA Cup.

United were beaten 3-0 by underdogs Ashford Town in the second round, with manager Gilbert admitting his team were ‘a little bit complacent’.

The U’s travel to Cornwall, to face Liskeard Athletic in the second round tomorrow afternoon.

Gilbert told the club website: “We know a fair bit as we’ve been able to see a few games and follow our normal process, so we’re not taking any liberties, and treating this game as any other.

“If you look back to what happened last year to us in the FA Cup, we were a little bit complacent.

“With the majority of the group still in place, we learnt a lot from that and with the mentality that this team has, I don’t see it being a problem.

“They’ll prepare as any other, and especially with the distance we have to travel, they won’t want a stroll around – they’ll want to take it very seriously.”

A place in the third round, where Women’s Championship sides enter the competition, is at stake for United.

One player who will be unavailable is captain Lauren Haynes, who is out until at least the New Year with an ankle injury.
