BANBURY United smashed their way into the third round of the FA Trophy with a 6-0 win at home to Stowmarket Town.

The Puritans took the lead on 38 minutes following brilliant build-up play.

Henry Landers finished the move, sending Stowmarket goalkeeper James Bradbrook the wrong way from 10 yards.

Oxford United loanee Slavi Spasov doubled the lead in first half stoppage time when he latched onto a high ball and slotted past Bradbrook.

With 50 minutes on the clock, Spasov grabbed a third for Andy Whing’s side after a solo run saw him jink through the penalty area, before prodding beyond Bradbrook.

Four minutes later, Ben Acquaye cut in from the left and curled a shot into the net, and on 63 minutes, Giorgio Rasulo added Banbury’s fifth.

Alex Babos finished the scoring when he fired home from 15 yards in the 73rd minute.

Oxford City were dumped out of the FA Trophy on penalties, after a 1-1 draw at home to Plymouth Parkway.

Joe Iaciofano had put City ahead 10 minutes into the second half but a goal from Harrison King 15 minutes from time sent the tie to penalties.

Ben Dudzinski saved Parkway’s first spot-kick but Reece Fleet also saw his penalty saved.

Canice Carroll hit City’s fourth penalty against the crossbar, with Parkway going on to win the shoot-out.
