KARL Robinson was left frustrated by a game of two halves – but feels Oxford United’s point at home to Forest Green Rovers could prove to be a good one.

James Henry gave United a lead at half-time, but the U’s were pegged back when Jamille Matt equalised with an hour played.

The difference between United’s opening 45 minutes and the second period was stark, as Robinson’s team failed to replicate the attacking intent they showed in the first half.

“I thought the way we came out the blocks was probably some of the best football we’ve played here this year, but I thought we became flippant in our finishing,” said Robinson.

“I thought our honesty today was certainly there and the zest wasn’t.

“What we were in the first 45 minutes, in the second half didn’t resemble that.

“Is this a point we look back on in a few weeks’ time as a positive one? Right now, it’s a frustrating one.

“We should’ve took three, we certainly have the players to do that.

“That could be a good point, I really do believe that.

“The players in the first 45 minutes should’ve put the game to bed, and when you don’t, our fatigue was always going to have an impact in the second half.”

United’s head coach added: “A little bit of lack of attention to detail in the first half is what made the second half poor.

“I thought when the second half started, we played way too many passes backwards, rather than forwards and hurting them like we did in the first half.”
