We are back at home today as we welcome Forest Green Rovers to the Kassam Stadium.

I spent weeks telling everyone to ignore the league table so try to do that again today.

Forest Green are a very dangerous side and it’s going to be another very tough game.

Slowly but surely we have been stringing a run of positive results together.

It started with a couple of draws but we are now six games unbeaten, through to the next round of the FA Cup and into the top half of the table.

People have been asking me what changed? How did we suddenly, magically, start getting results? I can’t answer those questions.

We didn’t do anything too different. We have always been one of the best prepared teams in the division and we have always trained with a serious intensity.

We are still nowhere near where we want to be but the players have been fantastic – and I also want to thank the fans who have stuck with us.

When we arrived at Woking on Wednesday, there were already Oxford fans around the ground, trying to find shelter from the rain.

My first concern was for the pitch. We had already lost one game there to the weather so I wanted to make sure that wasn’t going to happen again.

Thankfully the pitch held up despite the rain that fell all game, but my next thought was for the supporters.

They were either up on high, under cover in the seats behind the goal, or they were on a low terrace with no roof.

I asked the safety team at Woking if they would allow the fans who were getting soaked to the skin to transfer to the covered stand, and was assured that would be allowed.

But the vast majority refused to move! They preferred to stand in the rain, getting absolutely soaked.

They sang their hearts out and were an absolute credit to the club. I hope everyone has dried out and will be okay for today’s game.

In those testing conditions I thought there were some outstanding performances and the attitude was spot on.

It gave me serious food for thought when it comes to selecting my team this afternoon.

Whoever plays, we are in good form and will be looking to carry that on when kick-off comes along at three o’clock this afternoon.

It’s the club’s annual ‘Military Day’ and we were fortunate to meet members of the Royal Navy and Army when they came to see us in midweek.

I am always in awe of the jobs they do for our country, and to hear them speak with such humility was inspiring for all of us.

They will be at the ground again today and if you are coming along, then you will get the chance to meet some real heroes long before kick-off.
