FORMER Oxford United defender Eddie Odhiambo has left his position as manager of North Leigh.

Odhiambo led the Millers to a historic promotion in May, reaching the seventh tier of English football for the first time, after beating Ware 4-2 in the Southern League Division One Central play-off final.

However, the Eynsham Park outfit have struggled so far in Southern League Premier South, sitting bottom of the table and seven points inside the drop zone.

The Millers fell to a 2-0 defeat at home against Beaconsfield Town at the weekend, and have now gone five league games without a win.

Assistant boss Michael Alexis is also to leave North Leigh, with the club thanking both Odhiambo and Alexis for their efforts on and off the pitch.

Chairwoman Sharon Claridge said in a statement: “As chairwoman, this has been the most difficult decision I have been involved with at North Leigh.

“From myself personally, I would like to say I will forever be grateful to Eddie and Lex for giving me the best and most enjoyable season I’ve ever had in football and to top it off, getting us promoted to step three.

“It’s been an absolute pleasure working with you both. You both will forever have a special place in my heart. I’m going to miss you both a lot.

“All the best of luck to you both on and off the field. You are always welcome at Eynsham Park.”
