KARL Robinson insists his touchline ban will not impact Oxford United, in part due to the squad mentality at the club.

Robinson was shown a yellow card at Portsmouth on Tuesday, after also receiving a caution in the defeat at home to Peterborough United.

The U’s head coach will be in the stands for the trip to Bolton Wanderers this weekend, rather than the dugout, as he serves a one-game touchline ban.

Billy Bodin, who was shown a second yellow card at Fratton Park, has received a two-game ban.

Normally a double yellow card would carry a one-game suspension, however because Bodin was sent off at Cheltenham Town earlier in the season, he has received a two-game ban.

The pair join Matty Taylor, who has two games remaining of his three-game ban following his red card against Wycombe Wanderers.

On his touchline ban, Robinson is confident Craig Short, John Mousinho and Leon Blackmore-Such can step up in his absence.

“Shorty, John and Leon are brilliant, and we have consistent communication,” said Robinson.

“We all have different ideas, but come together for the support of the players.

“I think the way the players are at right now, they’re in that group mentality.

“I’ll be quite close at Bolton, I’ll only be four or five rows from the dugout, so that’s not too much of a bad situation, but we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.

“I’ll have contact with the staff, we’ll be consistently speaking.”
