THE Oxford Mail player ratings following Oxford United’s 2-0 defeat at Sutton United, which saw Karl Robinson’s side exit the Papa John’s Trophy.
ED MCGINTY
Fisted over a couple of goalbound crosses and looked comfortable claiming set pieces. One heart in mouth moment, where he seemed to handle the ball way outside his box – 6.5
DJAVAN ANDERSON
Was afforded lots of space to bomb down the right but often lacked quality with the cross or the killer pass – 6.5
ELLIOTT MOORE
A surprise inclusion alongside Stuart Findlay, and will be bitterly disappointed to have conceded two goals to lower league opposition – 6.5
STUART FINDLAY
Penalty given against him was admittedly soft but shouldn’t have allowed Kylian Kouassi the opportunity to go to ground by making contact – 6
STEVE SEDDON
Didn’t offer as much going forward as Anderson did on the right, and will have done little to work his way back into the starting line-up for league matches – 6
“When the players get given that chance, they need to take it.”

BILLY BODIN
Largely anonymous aside from a couple of shots which failed to cause any sort of panic in the Sutton goal – 5.5
MARCUS MCGUANE
Was strong and imposing in the middle of park, and now appears to have made the holding role his own – 6.5
ALEX GORRIN
Full of energy playing higher up the pitch, and was well involved in the final third. On another day, might’ve scored with a couple of his attempts – 6.5
KYLE JOSEPH
Failed to make the impact he did at Exeter City and like many of his teammates, a subdued performance – 5.5
MATTY TAYLOR
Had a decent chance to open the scoring but was unfortunate to see the ball bounce down from the crossbar and onto the goal line – 5.5
TYLER GOODRHAM
United’s brightest spark. Always looked to make things happen, whether running at defenders or trying to get shots off. MAN OF THE MATCH – 7

On the pitch a matter of minutes, then U’s went 2-0 down, and wasn’t able to help spark a comeback – 5.5

Looked bright and full of running when he came on, and forced Brad House into a save with a stinging effort – 6.5

Unused: Eastwood, Mousinho, Golding.
