Former star Flavio Zappi was the top Oxfordshire finisher in Oxonian's 31-mile race held in blustery conditions.

The 48-year-old, who attends Oxford University, completed the course in 1hr 26mins 43 secs, some seven minutes behind the winning time of 1.19.46, achieved by Richard Simmons (London Dynamo).

In his prime, Zappi rode the Giro d'Italia and came 12th in the classic Milan-to-San Remo race.

The winners of the three-up race were the Arctic-Premier and RT Team of Tim Bayley, Danny Axford and Dave McGaw in a time of 1.19.27.

The winner of tricycle event was Ralph Dadswell (Antelope CRT) in 1.36.11. Event organiser Geoff Booker recorded 1.51.46.
