Oxford & District's successful season continued with an astonishing fightback to win the Midland Counties Fours Champ- ionship at Avon Valley BC.
Playing against a strong Northamptonshire side, the Oxford team of Eddie Pilgrim, Dale Hall, Howard Watts and skip Chris Allen looked dead and buried when falling 19-11 behind with four ends to play.
But the Oxford team produced an outstanding performance to move to just 19-18 down going into the final end.
The Oxford team drew the two shots required early in the final end and put covering woods at the back of the rink.
Although the Northants No 3 moved the jack, it went to the Oxford woods at the back of the rink.
Watts drew the shot to ensure the two shots required and a memorable 20-19 win This result continues a good run for the Oxford & District club, which has seen them produce three of the four Oxon & Bucks area champions in recent weeks.
They now go on to the English Indoor Championships at Nottingham starting on Thursday, April 10.
