Cassington caused a major upset by dumping Witney & District FA Premier Division leaders Freeland out of the Senior Cup 4-3 in the first round, writes ANTHONY BARLOW.

Cassington raced into a 2-0 lead only for Freeland to draw level by half-time.

Freeland then went ahead, but the underdogs stormed back to snatch a surprise win.

Dave Cooper was Cassington's hero, with his late strike completing a brace.

Carl Osgathorpe and Adam Rackham were also on target, with Richard Trigg, Neil Howe and Craig Simpson netting for Freeland.

In the Junior Cup first round, Witney Wanderers squandered a three-goal lead before scraping home 4-3 at Bampton Town Res.

Gary Thomas, Gary Atkinson, Chris Bennell and Bernie Crumlish scored for Wanderers, with James Walkington, Richard Ghagan and Aidan Necchi-Ghiri replying.

Tom West had fired Royals in front, only for Aston Leach to level the match in nomral time.

John Clarke, Steve Jenkins, Craig Halkett and Nikita Edwards were on target as Spartan Rangers Res beat FC Nomads 4-0.

Meanwhile, an air ambulance was called to Minster Lovell Res's Division 3 match against FC Mills Res's after Matt Quick suffered what appeared to be a serious injury.

The match was delayed for half an hour while Quick received treatment.

He was later taken by car to hospital in Witney where he was given stitches for a nasty gash in a leg.

Minster's Mykel Ryan received a yellow card for the challenge, and was later sent off.

Minster won the game 1-0 with James Barker on target.

Kevin Davies hit a hat-trick as FC Chequers thrashed Fieldtown 5-0 to stay top.

Dan Cox and Dean Jeffs were also on target.
