Oxford United skipper Barry Quinn said, both as an individual and collectively as a team, he felt he had let so many people down on Saturday.

The 3-0 home defeat by Burton was just a terrible game for United's players, and the Dubliner felt the pain more than most after a bad error which led to Albion's second goal.

"I just feel I let down so many people and so many supporters and they've been magnificent," Quinn said.

"The manager and staff have worked so hard to do things right for us. All the lads are totally gutted.

"The goals we conceded, I apologised to the lads because they were silly, silly goals.

"At this moment in time, confidence is a bit low anyway, but it's about character and fighting back.

"In the second half we gave it a good go, but we should have done better, and again I just feel ashamed and that we let so many people down. We're bitterly disappointed.

"We'd had two good results, and I thought we were unlucky to lose on Tuesday but the way it has been, we need to get that stability and consistency.

"Winning two and losing three or drawing one . . . that's not good enough for this club, that's not going to win you the league.

"We should be winning games, especially at home, and certainly teams shouldn't be coming here and beating us 3-0.

"This is where we've got to be mentally strong to bounce back and do it not just for ourselves, but for the manager and the staff, because at this moment in time we couldn't have a better manager.

"The lads respect him and feel we've let him down, and the supporters. They pay their money and they deserve more."
