It’s Family Day at the Kassam Stadium today and I hope as many of you as possible come along to enjoy a day at the football with your family.

There are lots of activities to keep our younger fans entertained before kick-off and then we will do our best to get you a win and continue the entertainment in the game itself.

It’s a good chance to turn a good week into an excellent one after two wins in a row.

That started at Cheltenham last Saturday where the game went very open and we managed to win despite being reduced to 10 men.

I thought Billy Bodin’s red card was very harsh but the other 10 players put in an incredible shift, and we managed to get that first away win, courtesy of Cameron Brannagan’s two goals.

It was important we carried that on in the next game and it was pleasing to see such a dominant performance in beating Leyton Orient on Tuesday.

We scored five goals, including Matty Taylor’s first of the season, we kept a clean sheet and we gave ourselves an excellent chance of making progress into the knockout stages, even with two games left in our group.

More importantly, it just kept the momentum going forward.

It is not an amazing unbeaten run, we are probably not in full stride yet, but we have picked up four points from two league games, we have won 5-0 in a cup and we pushed a Premier League side all the way in the middle of those matches, so there have been plenty of positives.

On Thursday we signed Djavan Anderson and that is going to strengthen us.

Djavan can play full back on either side of defence, he can play on the wing and he can play in midfield too.

We are bringing in a player from a massive club in Europe who has a fantastic attitude and had heard good things about the way the club wants to go.

That’s encouraging and although we aren’t hiding the fact we would have liked to bring in other players on Thursday, and were frustrated not to able to do it, we have still strengthened a lot this summer.

Since we came back from Spain in pre-season, we have added Ed McGinty, Stuart Findlay, Lewis Bate, Yanic Wildschut, Kyle Joseph, Josh Murphy and now Djavan, so once work permits and injuries allow it, we have added some very good players to what was already a very good squad.

Now we have to build on the last couple of weeks and find that level of consistency, starting today against a Burton side under Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink who will want to show that they are in a false position in the early table.

It should be a good game. Bring your family along.

There was one other new signing this week with young Josh Johnson signing his first professional contract.

That is such a proud moment for a young footballer and the academy do the right thing, inviting the mum and dad along to see him sign the forms.

That’s only right because their support and help plays a big part in their development.

JJ did ever so well against Crystal Palace the other week.

He didn’t look out of place at all against a side full of Premier League players.

He is still very young, he will tell you himself he has a lot to learn, but he wants to do that.

He is only going to get better and it has been a pleasure to see him grow up into a fine young man as well as a very good footballer.
