THE Oxford Mail player ratings for Oxford United’s 5-0 win over Leyton Orient in the Papa John’s Trophy.

ED MCGINTY

His most assured performance to date. Three very good saves, one from Sotiriou and twice thwarting Georgiou. Commanded his area well – 7.5

SAM LONG

A comfortable evening for the defender, other than one loose pass across the back four and getting dragged over for Sotiriou’s first-half chance – 7

JOHN MOUSINHO

The U’s captain is responsible for set-pieces and his goal was one of three from dead-ball situations. Another impressive midweek showing from the centre back – 7.5

STUART FINDLAY

Great header to get off the mark for United, moments after he was brilliantly denied by Sargeant. Bailed out by McGinty after presenting the ball to Sotiriou, but otherwise did little wrong – 7

JAMES HENRY

An unexpected choice at wing back, although he was not really tested defensively. Unlucky to see a goal ruled out for offside and delivered the corner for Joseph’s strike – 7

MARCUS MCGUANE

At times it was too easy for the midfielder. Glided past players as he brought the ball out from the back, created a couple of chances and almost scored a brilliant solo goal – 7

LEWIS BATE

Neat and tidy in a game that allowed him to show his ability. Claimed an assist for Brannagan and went close in the first half – 6.5

BILLY BODIN

Excellent from set-pieces, bagging assists for Mousinho and Findlay. Like Henry, he was not stretched defensively and was unlucky not to score from a couple of opportunities – 7.5

CAMERON BRANNAGAN

Scored a thunderbolt out of nothing to continue his prolific form – that’s five goals in seven games for the midfielder. Had plenty of joy drifting out to the left, making him difficult to pick up – 7.5

MATTY TAYLOR

Great to see him get on the scoresheet. Linked the play well, won the free-kick for the opener, involved in Joseph’s strike and denied another goal and an assist by the offside flag. MAN OF THE MATCH – 8

KYLE JOSEPH

Another poacher’s goal for the loanee, who keeps getting in the right positions. Made some good runs in behind and showed glimpses of a partnership with Taylor – 7
