New signing Ryan Semple goes straight into the Oxford United squad for Saturday's Blue Square Premier trip to Forest Green Rovers.

The 22-year-old winger joined the U's on non-contract terms on Friday afternoon, and could make his debut in Gloucestershire.

Semple began his career at Peterborough where he made 18 starts, but had also had a spell at Manchester United as a youngster.

The right-sided player then joined Lincoln City in the summer of 2006, but injury meant he managed just four substitute appearances at Sincil Bank before being sent on loan to Chester.

He was at Rushden & Diamonds on loan this season, but was released by Lincoln boss Peter Jackson and Oxford boss Darren Patterson was quick to pounce.

His inclusion means that Patterson now has a selection dilemma ahead of today's clash, a position he is delighted with.

Barry Quinn and Matt Green are both fit after injury, and Craig McAllister is pushing for a recall.

Quinn has been suffering from flu, but was back in training on Thursday, while Green has recovered after treatment on a minor knee injury.

Fellow loan signing Jamie Hand is expected to start in midfield alongside Adam Murray, with Eddie Hutchinson dropping to the bench.

"I have problems in selection, but it's what I have been looking for," Patterson said. "Long may that continue.

"Craig scored a goal (against Witney United) in midweek and has looked fresh and bright in training so it gives me food for thought."

Patterson added: "It will be a tough game. Forest Green are above us in the league and our away record has been quite poor and it's something we are looking to improve on.

Forest Green will be without defender Darren Jones, who sits out the second of his three-game ban for accum- ulating ten bookings, but John Hardiker return.

Striker Adriano Rigoglioso could be back after missing last week's defeat at Cambridge with illness, but right back Olly James remains sidelined with a bad back.

Forest Green: from Robinson, Lawless, Tonkin, Giles, Pitman, Clist, Brough, Preece, Fleetwood, Welsh, Carey-Bertram, Afful, Stonehouse, Smith, Ashford, Rigoglisco.

Oxford Utd: Turley, Day, Quinn, Foster, Howard, Clarke, Anaclet, Hand, Murray, Hutchinson, Trainer, Richards, Green, McAllister, Blackwood, Rose, Semple, Willmott, Warrell.
