Former Oxford United midfielder Paul Powell is unlikely to play for Didcot Town again, according to boss Stuart Peace.

The manager of the British Gas Business Southern League Division 1 South & West leaders says he can't see Powell figuring in his plans for the "foreseeable future" after he joined Hellenic League side Hungerford Town.

Although 29-year-old Powell, who helped Didcot win the FA Vase in 2006, is registered for both clubs, he hasn't played for the Railwaymen since December.

On Saturday, the former England Youth international, who joined Didcot in 2003, created a goal in Hungerford's 2-1 Hellenic League win against Kidlington.

Former Didcot players Ian Concannon and Paul Bedwell are also at the Berkshire club.

And Wallingford-born Powell, who scored 49 times in 196 appearances for Didcot, could feature in another Vase final as Hungerford have reached the last eight of this season's competition.

"Paul is a good player and we have had four good years out of him," said Peace. "But you have to question his desire to play for this club (Didcot).

"He was not prepared to do what we wanted him to on a regular basis, such as training twice a week. So he decided to call it a day and joined Hungerford.

"His attitude wasn't right and I wasn't too happy with him.

"Although you never say never, at the moment he's not part of our club.

"It's a shame, but it has allowed Liam Hope (who recently signed from North Leigh) to emerge, so while one door closes, another one opens."

Powell was unavailable for comment.
