MARCUS Browne will go for a scan today to find out the severity of his knee injury.

The Oxford United star was forced off midway through the second half of Tuesday’s 2-1 defeat to Lincoln City at the Kassam Stadium.

Browne looked distraught as he left the pitch and Karl Robinson fears the 24-year-old could be sidelined for some time.

“He’s got a scan this afternoon,” the U's head coach said.

“I’ve been around long enough to understand the ramifications and I don’t think I’ll be shocked.

“It threw me, I found it really difficult to take seeing him coming off crying. It’s something that I’ll never get used to.”

Browne is the latest attacking player in an increasingly busy treatment room, with fellow wingers Yanic Wildschut and Josh Murphy out with hamstring injuries and striker Sam Baldock recovering from a thigh issue.

United are exploring the option of adding reinforcements out wide but Robinson warned the club will not rush into anything.

He said: “It’s a difficult one, because with Browney I think I know what’s going to happen.

“Sam’s six weeks, Josh could be three to four (weeks), Yanic will be at least another three months.

“It’s about that balance - do you recruit for a new system, or recruit for a system that we’d like to play but we don’t have the personnel?

“We’ve got to take stock and that’s why we’ve stalled a little bit this week.

“We’ve got a meeting at 2.30 today to make sure that we get everything right and look at other options.

“You can’t go into it with any muddy waters and that’s the bit we’ve got to get right in the next 48 hours.”
