Chinnor coach Jason Bowers said he was delighted with Wallingford's progress ahead of tomorrow's Oxfordshire Cup semi-final at Kingsey Road (2.30).

Bowers's day job is rugby development officer for Oxfordshire, which involves promoting the sport at all levels.

And while he hopes Chinnor reach their first county final for three years, he won't be disappointed if Wallingford push them all the way.

Bowers said: "In my job it is rewarding to see other Oxfordshire clubs doing well.

"Wallingford are a great club, both at senior and junior level and deserve their success.

"It will be a good chance for us to have a match against tough local opp- osition.

"I'm sure they will give 150 per cent."

Chinnor give scrum half Tim Sutton a chance to shine in the absence of Owen Gustafson, while prop Tom Whelan remains out with a rib injury.

They have named a large squad due to a number of minor injury concerns.

Former Wallingford players Jaike Carter and Danny Burns are both in the squad.

Bowers added: "The league is the priority for every club in the country. We are very much focused on that.

"However the prestige of the county cup is something we take very highly.

"Particularly with not being able to field a full side last year as we were in the National League, it is a great opportunity to prove ourselves and regain the cup.

"It's also nice to have a break from league rugby where you are not worry about 11 other teams."

Wallingford include former Chinnor prop Rae Young on the bench, while Stuart Mount gets the nod at hooker ahead of Tom Hill.

Coach Chris Norrington said: "We've never been this far before and haven't even been in this competition!

"We can just go out and enjoy it.

"It is a good chance for the players to see what a couple of levels above them is like. Hopefully they won't be too surprised."

Banbury will be looking to cause an upset when they host holders Oxford Harlequins (2.30).

They are without No 8 Simon Brand, scrum half Darren DeBruyn and fly half Pete Papenfus.

Player coach Grant Holmes, who starts at No 10, said: "On behalf of the squad I would like to encourage and urge the people of Banbury to come along on Saturday and support the team as we look to cause a major upset to make the final."

Quins welcome back hooker Dave Needham, while flanker Ferdi Gerber is battling a rib injury.

Tom Johnson and Neil Spottiswoode look to be vying for a centre spot, with Pete Davies and Duncan Lynchsmith after a wing berth.

Quins will be strong favourites against a side who have won twice in the league all season, but press officer Roger King said: "I think it could be a bit tricky.

"I am not counting my chickens."
