Another quiet week at Oxford United – one player in, one player out, two last minute wins and the chance to play Premier League opposition.

To deal with those in order, we have signed Kyle Joseph on loan and let Jack Stevens go on loan to Port Vale.

Kyle has been on our radar for a while and he is a very athletic forward who is also good in the air.

Sam Baldock’s injury was bad timing and we cannot go the whole season relying on Matty Taylor in every game.

Kyle will stretch games for us and allows us to play slightly differently so hopefully he has an impact straight away.

Jack moving to Port Vale may have surprised a few fans but it was something we had been toying with for a while.

Ed McGinty has come in and done well, and Simon Eastwood has been a model of consistency for us.

Letting Jack go and get game time at Vale Park, knowing we can recall him, is a good move for everyone, we hope.

And then we move on to the games we have played.

Both of them saw drama in the 93rd minute and two goals into the top corners at the West End of the stadium.

The first was a great strike from Tyler Goodrham to beat Cambridge, and I was surprised to find myself leaping onto the pile of celebrating players!

That was embarrassing and I have taken a lot of stick for it, trust me!

Then on Tuesday, Cameron Brannagan fired into the other top corner to force our game against Swansea to penalties.

Credit to every player involved because most people had written us off at 2-0 down against a side from a division above who keep the ball for fun.

I could hear the Swansea fans signing ‘we want our ball back’ when we started keeping possession ourselves.

As soon as Alex Gorrin made it 1-2, I believed we were going to get a second.

Ed saving the vital kick was always going to be the ending wasn’t it?

Two good results then, but we haven’t been at our best as of yet.

That always takes time as things settle down.

Hopefully today sees us move up another gear as we travel to Bristol Rovers.

Today’s game kicks off at 12.30pm on police advice, and there was little we could do about the change of time.

It means the game can be streamed on iFollow and it has one other advantage: the temperature.

I love the hot weather and have really enjoyed the sunshine this week, but maybe playing a little earlier allows us to avoid the absolutely sweltering weather that has been around at 3pm most days this week.

If you are coming along to support us, then take care in that sun.

It’s an open terrace right behind the away dugout and it’s going to be a hot one.

Get plenty of water on board, put on your lucky Oxford hat, and we’ll see if we can do the best to put the home side in the shade for you.
