It has set the stage for a mouth-watering clash at the Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium, which hosted six four-figure crowds last term.

And manager Whing hopes the Puritans can do enough to maintain the big attendances.

“We’ve got to perform to bring those fans back, we get that,” he said.

“But Banbury have never got this high in their history so that should give fans plenty of excitement.

“The players we’ve kept and the ones we’ve brought in should also do that.

“I think we play attractive stuff as well, that should really bring people to come and watch that because I think we’re quite entertaining.

“The excitement should have been building from the last game of last season and we’re really looking forward to it.”
