THE Oxford Mail player ratings for Oxford United’s 1-0 win over Cambridge United in Sky Bet League One.

SIMON EASTWOOD

Cambridge did not manage a shot on target so no saves to make. Distribution was tidy and a couple of good claims from set-pieces, but he flapped at one cross – 6

SAM LONG

The right back’s touch and end product let him down a few too many times. Brophy and Dunk gave him plenty to think about, especially in the first half – 5.5

ELLIOTT MOORE

Smith got in behind on a few occasions, but otherwise the captain was solid enough. Forced Mitov into a good save late on – 7

STUART FINDLAY

Another performance where he did very little wrong, although he could improve in possession. Booked early on but it did not affect him and won plenty of headers. BOOKED – 7

STEVE SEDDON

One of his best defensive displays for a while. Strong in the air and made some important tackles. Contributed going forward, too. MAN OF THE MATCH – 7

MARCUS BROWNE

One of United’s liveliest players in a flat first half. Sent a free-kick over the crossbar and had a strong penalty shout turned down. One frustrated tackle earned him a yellow card. BOOKED – 6.5

MARCUS MCGUANE

Picked up where he left off against Derby with some strong running early on. Faded after the break but was generally tidy in possession – 7

CAMERON BRANNAGAN

Another unusually quiet display where he was solid but unspectacular. United could not get him in the game at all before half-time – 6

JOSH MURPHY

Started brightly, only for Cambridge to quickly double up on him. One shot in the first half and tracked back on a couple of occasions, but was substituted after his first proper run – 5.5

MATTY TAYLOR

Like at Derby, he looked isolated. One a few headers but could not do much with them and his hold-up play was not to his usual standards. Forced Mitov into a good save late on – 5.5

BILLY BODIN

Did not affect the game too much and it was probably right to substitute him midway through the second half. Always capable of creating something but did not have many opportunities – 5.5
