Banbury Utd 1 (Gordon 88)

Mangotsfield 1 (Griffin 31)

A late goal by Nicky Gordon rescued Banbury a point from their low-key Premier Division clash at home to Mangotsfield.

It was the sixth time that the teams have met, and still the home side have failed to win any of the games.

Mangotsfield had an early setback when defender Sam Bailey fell awkwardly after an aerial challenge, and he had to be replaced by Alan Griffin.

This, however, proved to be a blessing in disguise for visitors, when the substitute galloped after a hopeful ball into the area and nipped in between Andy Wheeler and Tommy Kinch to give the visitors the lead.

Although Mangotsfield looked the more adventurous, strong play by Banbury's defence killed off any chances, with Andy Baird, in particular, a rock in the middle.

Banbury only seemed to wake up in the last five minutes.

In the 88th minute, their late resurgence was rewarded. Baird headed on to Gordon who took the ball away from his marker, turned and shot from a narrow angle through Josh Clapham's legs to notch his tenth of the season, after a five-match barren spell.

Banbury Utd: Wheeler, Travers (Bryan 68), Kinch, Essex, Baird, Fuller, Stuart Bridges, Blossom, Scott Bridges, Gordon, Stanbridge (Murphy 46). Subs not used: Sambrook, McKay.
