Headington's good run came crashing down as they were beaten by mid-table side Malmesbury.

A mix-up between James Gray and Daniel Simmonds allowed James McCarthy to put Malmesbury ahead.

Early in the second half, Headington's player-manager Dave Southam missed a great chance to equalise Headington were made to pay when Chris Lang outpaced Simmonds and fired past Dan Bianchini, and then McCarthy volleyed in his second.

A minute later, the visiting keeper brought down Southam, and Adam Lovegrove made no mistake from the spot, but Headington could not score again.

Letcombe 2 (Whatley 57, Breen 66)

Both sides were left with the feeling that they could have picked up all three points.

Matt Minnis gave Trowbridge a half-time lead from close range.

But Letcombe equalised after 57 minutes. Iain Whatley netted from eight yards after Richard Claydon's shot had been parried by keeper Lewis Porter.

After Sean Webb crashed a header against a post, Liam Breen put Letcombe ahead.

However, four minutes from time Minnis scored his second after Letcombe had failed to clear.

Clanfield 2 (Knight 23, Acock 42)

A superb strike from Steve Knight midway through the first half set Clanfield up for a comfortable victory over basement boys Cirencester.

Clanfield, whose new signing James Shutt shone on his debut, went ahead when Knight drilled a 25-yard free-kick into the top right-hand corner of the net.

It was 2-0 on 42 minutes after man-of-the-match Chris Hunt's perfect cross was bundled over the line by defender Ben Acock.

In the second half, Clanfield could not score again, while keeper Chris Brain made a superb one-handed save to ensure a clean sheet.
