Agreement has been reached between Oxford United and Wrexham for Rob Duffy to continue his loan at the Racecourse Ground until the end of the season.

But because of the timing of the Football League campaign, which goes on until May 3 - a week later that the Conference - Duffy will probably return to being an Oxford United player for one week after his month's loan at Wrexham finishes. He will then go back on loan to Brian Little's team until the end of the season.

In practice, he would probably continue to train with the north Wales club, who are fighting for their lives to avoid relegation.

United manager Darren Patterson confirmed: "We've reached agreement for Rob to stay to the end of the season and it's good for him to have that chance to try and prove himself there.

"He's had limited opportunities so far but has scored a few for their reserves. And he could start against MK Dons this Saturday because Drewe Broughton is ineligible for that match."

Wrexham boss Little brought in Broughton, on loan from MK Dons, but part of the agreement between the clubs was that the striker wouldn't face the League Two leaders when they met.

Duffy, United's top scorer last season with 21 goals, has found the net in only one Oxford game since September, and doesn't feature in Patterson's plans.

He will be battling for a starting place for Wrexham along with Paul Hall, a signing from Walsall, who is recovering from a hamstring injury.
