Wallingford coach Chris Norrington was delighted with his side's second-half effort against Witney.

He said: "I said to the boys at half-time that we were better than them and needed to raise our game.

"We were being a bit lazy. If we can't get quick ball, we are not the same team, we have to play at pace.

"We produced a good running game, which was pleasing, and it was great to have our tight-head Ed Jenkins back as he is the cornerstone of our scrum.

"I'm also really proud of the way we defended despite leading by 20-plus points."

Witney coach Phil Harper said: "In the first half we played well and were definitely on a par with them.

"But two or three times our discipline went in key parts of the field and you can't give a side as good as that those sort of chances.

"They made very few mistakes and were a lot fitter than us.

"We ended up kicking the ball to them because too tired to do anything else.

"That was a different defeat to the ones we had been having.

"It's almost better to lose against a better side than be edged out by a single score.

"We did some good things. The backs had some decent breaks.

"The lineout worked well and our scrum was much better than the last time we played them."
