EXPERIENCED duo Giorgio Rasulo and Kelvin Langmead have signed new deals at Banbury United.

The pair played an integral role as the Puritans won the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central title last season.

Rasulo captained the side from central midfield in his third full campaign with the club following his arrival in 2018.

The 25-year-old, who featured once off the bench for Oxford United in 2015, has scored 26 goals in 145 appearances for the Puritans and is excited to test himself in Vanarama National League North next term.

He told Banbury’s website: “Last season was so enjoyable with this group, which made it an easy decision to stay and show what we can do at this level.”

Langmead arrived in north Oxfordshire in 2020 and brought bags of Football League experience to the Puritans squad.

The 37-year-old centre back made more than 250 appearances for Shrewsbury Town and went on to play for Peterborough United and Northampton Town, among other teams.

The veteran has scored nine goals in 53 games for Banbury, including the winner in last October’s Emirates FA Cup fourth qualifying round victory over Bath City.

He said: “I love being at this club. In the last two seasons we’ve created so much history and enjoyed some incredible moments together.

“It’s a special changing room and ultimately remaining part of that was the biggest reason for me carrying on.

“It’s going to be another historic season and I’m looking forward to being back in with the lads next week.”

Banbury manager Andy Whing added: “Obviously we’re absolutely delighted that our captain Gio has re-signed for next season.

“It just shows what a good dressing room we have with the lads committing again for next season.

“Gio has undoubted quality and wants to show everyone at the next level what a good player he is.

“We’re absolutely delighted that Kelvin is with us for another season. His experience on and off the pitch is massive for us.

“Kelvin was one of my first signings at the football club and what a signing he has been. I’m delighted to be working with him again this season.”

It means 11 members of last season’s squad have re-signed for Banbury, while Whing has also penned a new deal.

The Puritans contest their first friendly of the summer tomorrow when they travel to Easington Sports for the Ron Thomas Cup (3pm).
