TOM Ravenscroft has agreed a new deal with hometown club Oxford City Stars.

The 21-year-old is the latest player to re-sign for 2022/23, following in the footsteps of teammates Ross Miller and Chris Cooke. Brad Watchorn has also joined the Oxpens outfit.

Ravenscroft made his Stars debut as a teenager in 2019 and has become an influential player.

The rising star won the club’s defenceman of the year award last season and is hungry to continue his development.

“Coming back to Oxford was a no-brainer,” said Ravenscroft.

“I’m looking to getting back on the ice and building on the work I put in last season.

“Having enjoyed playing for Simon previously and after speaking with him I really like his vision for the club and I want to be part of it.”

Head coach Simon Anderson knows Ravenscroft from his previous spell at Stars, which ended in February 2020.

The Oxpens boss was reappointed for his fourth stint last month and is thrilled to have the D-Man in his plans for next term.

He said: “I’m excited to have signed Tom.

“From a personal point of view he had a decent season last year that culminated in him winning the defenceman of the year award.

“I am looking for him to continue in that form and I believe he has another level that he can get to.

“He has developed well in the last three years both in skill development, but also his hockey IQ.

“I could see that when I watched the last few games of last season.

“It is a big year ahead for Tom and we’re happy he is back at Oxford.”
