OXFORD United are jostling for position with several clubs in the early odds for Sky Bet League One promotion next season.

Sky Bet has the U’s as joint seventh favourites to go up at 5/1 alongside three other sides: MK Dons, Peterborough United and Wycombe Wanderers.

Posh won promotion in 2020/21 but came straight back down last season, so will hope to make an immediate return to the second tier.

Wycombe beat MK in their League One play-off semi-final, before losing 2-0 to Sunderland at Wembley.

United are also seventh in the markets for winning the title and finishing in the play-off places.

It comes after the U’s ended last season eighth in League One, missing out on the top six for the first time in three years.

Ipswich Town are the early favourites for promotion at 7/4, despite the Tractor Boys finishing 11th in 2021/22.

Next up are play-off semi-finalists Sheffield Wednesday, followed by newly-relegated Derby County – still without a confirmed owner – and Barnsley.

Fifth and sixth favourites are Bolton Wanderers and Portsmouth, who finished in the positions immediately below United last season, before the cluster of teams at 5/1.

Plymouth Argyle ended the campaign seventh in League One but are only 12th favourites at 6/1.
