KARL Robinson says Oxford United will be fuelled by the frustration of Saturday’s defeat at Plymouth Argyle when they take on Morecambe tonight.

The U’s can return to the Sky Bet League One play-off places with just five games of the season remaining if they get a result at the Mazuma Stadium (7.45pm kick-off).

United’s 1-0 defeat at Plymouth saw them drop out of the top six, with Robinson ruing an offside call against Gavin Whyte that saw a penalty decision in his side’s favour overturned.

The U’s were back on the road yesterday as they travelled up to the Lancashire coast for tonight’s game and the head coach insists motivated minds will overcome any tired legs.

Robinson said: “The anger we’ve got inside us will give us an extra few per cent.

“Ask my players to go again and we’ll go again.

“When you’re in that moment you want the games to keep rolling on and we need another game to get the frustration out of us."

He added: “It’s hard when you keep trying to do the right things and they don’t seem to drop for you.

“I don’t really prey too much on things that go against me before games, because I have the opportunity to change things in the lead-up.

“We feel we have a good enough squad to cope with that.”

Robinson has broken this season into five-game blocks, with United claiming seven points from the latest batch.

The same return from the next set of matches would put them on 76 points heading into the final-day visit of 23rd-placed Doncaster Rovers and the U’s boss suggested he would take that at this stage.

Robinson said: “In this block we took more points than what we thought.

“We now go into the next block of five and if we take seven with one game to go it puts you in a great place.

“That’s how you’ve got to look at this time of year.”
