OXFORD Quins and Chinnor Falcons have finally been given a date for the 2019/20 Oxfordshire Cup final – more than two years after booking their places at the Iffley Road showpiece.

The sides will run out at the iconic Oxford ground on Thursday, April 14, with kick-off at 7.45pm.

It comes more than two years since the 2020 competition was postponed with only the final to play, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Quins beat holders Banbury Bulls in their semi-final on February 22, 2020, while Chinnor Falcons – the Thame-based club’s second XV – overcame Oxford University Greyhounds four days later.

Both clubs have experienced significant success in the competition.

Quins are seeking to draw level with Chinnor’s seven titles, last winning the cup in 2014 when they beat Banbury 21-3.

That year ended a run of four straight triumphs for the Kingsey Road outfit.

Meanwhile, Chinnor’s first team have a huge game of their own tomorrow.

The Kingsey Road outfit travel to Rams for a derby clash that was postponed the week before Christmas due to a Covid outbreak within their squad.

The game will be available to watch live on National League Rugby’s Twitter and Facebook channels, as well as its website.

Seventh-placed Chinnor are immediately below Rams in the table, but 13 points separate the sides.

Richard Thorpe’s men have turned around an alarming run of five successive defeats with wins in their last two matches, over Plymouth Albion and Tonbridge Juddians.

Henley Hawks in National 2 South and Oxford Quins, Banbury Bulls, Witney and Grove in South West 1 East are all without a game on Saturday, as are Wallingford in Southern Counties North.

The other Oxfordshire sides in the latter division are both in action, though.

Bicester have a tough home game against third-placed Aylesbury, who make the short trip across the Buckinghamshire border.

Meanwhile, the bottom two battle it out at Stratfield Brake as Gosford All Blacks host Thatcham.
