ELLIOTT Moore goes for a scan today as Oxford United seek to find out the extent of his ankle injury.

The centre back came off after blocking a cross in the second half of Tuesday’s 1-0 win at Crewe Alexandra.

Karl Robinson suggested the 24-year-old could miss Saturday’s game against Cambridge United as he gave an update on the injury.

United’s head coach said: “He’s going for a scan today. Scans need 48 hours until the swelling settles down, so we’ll know about 2 or 3 o’clock today.

“It was his ankle, he rolled it in the first half and got the ball in the second half and that was it. It was time to bring him off.

“To lose Jordan Thorniley and Elliott Moore, and then Jack Stevens for most of the season, I don’t know how we’re doing it but we still seem to be in the mix with all the stuff that goes against us.

“It’ll be another problem that I’ve got to deal with.”

Thorniley was recalled from his season-long loan by parent club Blackpool in January, while Stevens missed three months of the season with glandular fever.

Moore’s expected absence could force United into a change of shape, after they played 3-4-1-2 in the wins over Charlton Athletic and Crewe.

But Robinson insisted it was too early to make that call.

He said: “We’ll see what the next 48 hours brings and what we see as the negative aspects to the team we’re playing against.

“We’ll see where they can hurt us and we’ll come to a decision to what we see is correct.”
