THE Oxford Mail player ratings for Oxford United’s 2-0 defeat at Wycombe Wanderers in Sky Bet League One.

SIMON EASTWOOD

Cannot be blamed for either goal. A few routine saves and one brave stop at the feet of Mehmeti – 6

SAM LONG

Had a tough task up against Obita, with McCleary and Mehmeti drifting over to his flank too. Kept it fairly tight in the first half, but distribution had to be better when United were behind – 5.5

ELLIOTT MOORE

Coped well when the momentum shifted in the first half and was in the right place more often than not. Felt like he needed to be the one getting United’s shape in order – 6

JORDAN THORNILEY

A mixed return to the side. Some important headers and tackles, including a brilliantly-timed challenge on Hanlan, but was outfought more than once – 5

STEVE SEDDON

Began the game much deeper than normal, although crept higher after the first goal. Won plenty in the air, however his delivery from set-pieces had to be better – 5.5

MARK SYKES

Like at Lincoln, he showed a lot of energy without the end product and grew frustrated. Made the wrong decision in the final third a couple of times. BOOKED – 5

MARCUS MCGUANE

A big game for him but it passed him by, unfortunately. Never really got a foothold in the first half, although showed some nice touches after the break when he switched roles with Brannagan – 4

CAMERON BRANNAGAN

Got into some great positions when United were on top, without always showing the quality we know he has. That being said, he went close to scoring in both halves and went toe-to-toe with a very good Wycombe midfield. BOOKED, MAN OF THE MATCH – 6.5

RYAN WILLIAMS

His task was to run himself into the ground for an hour and he did that. Good battle with Jacobson and deserved an assist for Holland – 6

MATTY TAYLOR

Another quiet week, although he needed more to work with. Competed well in the air against the imposing Stewart and Tafazolli, as well as going close with a half-chance early on – 4.5

NATHAN HOLLAND

For ten minutes he was outstanding, but did very little otherwise. Is it harsh to say he should have buried the chance that was cleared off the line? – 5

SUBSTITUTES

James Henry (for McGuane, 68)

Involved straight away and tidy in possession. Should have done better with his chance from 20 yards – 5.5

Gavin Whyte (for Williams, 68)

Another who tried to make things happen during his short time on the pitch. A couple of dangerous runs down the right – 5.5

Sam Winnall (for Holland, 71)

Snatched at one chance and sent a header just wide. Desperately needs a goal – 4.5

Unused: Stevens, McNally, Forde, Bodin.
