THE Oxford Mail player ratings for Oxford United’s 2-0 defeat at Lincoln City in Sky Bet League One.

SIMON EASTWOOD

Brilliant early save from Maguire and some good decision-making at set-pieces. Left exposed for both goals, so would be harsh to blame him – 6.5

SAM LONG

Scully and Bramall gave him a tough afternoon, although he did not have enough help from those in front of him. Distribution needed to be better, but he gave his all until the very end – 4.5

LUKE MCNALLY

In the right place to deal with several first-half crosses, including one spectacular sliding block and clearance on the line. Guilty of switching off for the second goal – 6.5

ELLIOTT MOORE

Coped well when Lincoln were on top in the first half and tried to get United moving with the ball. Another who could have been quicker to close down Whittaker for the second. MAN OF THE MATCH – 7

STEVE SEDDON

Like Long, he was left exposed against the excellent Whittaker and the lively Eyama. It was worrying how much joy Lincoln had down his flank. Got forward well after the break, firing in several crosses – 5

MARK SYKES

Less influential than recent weeks and you could see him getting frustrated, particularly after the altercation with Maguire. Generally tidy in possession, just unable to do much with it – 5

HERBIE KANE

Arguably United's best midfielder. Used the ball better than last week and tested Griffiths with a free-kick, his corners were consistent too. United must surely appeal his sending-off as he will be a big miss – 6

CAMERON BRANNAGAN

Only lasted 40 minutes and did not really influence the game in that time, with Lincoln well on top. Hopefully his injury is not too serious – 4.5

GAVIN WHYTE

After three very good performances, this one was unexpected. Lively early on, but never truly got into the game and needed to give Long more help tracking back – 4

MATTY TAYLOR

His early miss was a big moment, unfortunately. One of those afternoons for the striker, who saw a goal – maybe harshly - ruled out for offside. Hope this is only a blip after an excellent three months – 5

RYAN WILLIAMS

Another who was lively early on before his influence faded. One great pass for Taylor’s chance and a decent effort that Griffiths beat away. Needed to be tighter defensively – 5.5

SUBSTITUTES

Marcus McGuane (for Brannagan, 42)

Used the ball well and flashed a shot just wide. Bursts of energy were much-needed. Big chance for him if Kane and Brannagan are out for a few games – 6.5

James Henry (for Whyte, 64)

Hard to judge considering the state of the game on his return from injury. Kept possession well, but no real impact – 5

Nathan Holland (for Williams, 64)

Similar situation to Henry, but less involved – 4

Unused: Stevens, Forde, Bodin, Winnall.
