OXFORD United are set to be boosted by the return of James Henry this weekend.

The midfielder has been absent since sustaining a calf injury while warming-up ahead of the U’s 3-2 defeat to Wigan Athletic on December 18.

He was expected to be out for up to four weeks, but Karl Robinson confirmed Henry is in line to be involved at Lincoln City on Saturday.

“He’s training and back in the squad for the weekend,” the U’s head coach said.

“For us to have him back is important. Does he start? We’ll have to wait and see.

“Sykesy (Mark Sykes) has been one of our better performers in the middle of that three, Gavin (Whyte) is starting to find a rhythm as well.

“He’s going to have to wait for his opportunity, but he’s not a bad one to have ready and raring to go - the last time he came on as a sub he scored away at Doncaster.

“I’m so happy to have him back in. He’s worked really hard, he’s been really determined.

“Watching from afar he’s seen some great performances and he knows how hard he’s got to work to get back in the team.”

Henry has scored seven goals this season, including a hat-trick against Lincoln in August, and had only missed one Sky Bet League One game before his injury.

Nathan Holland has also been absent for the last three matches with a hamstring issue, but the winger is back in training.

Meanwhile, Dan Agyei could miss out against Lincoln as he continues to recover from Covid.

The forward missed last week’s games against AFC Wimbledon and Cheltenham Town.

Robinson said: “I know a few people were asking if he’s fallen out with me.

“He hasn’t, he’s had Covid and missed his day-seven test so he’s still on that road to recovery.”

Winger Joel Cooper is also back in training after a hip problem, while Jamie Hanson should join the rest of the squad early next week following his hamstring injury.

It leaves United almost back to a full complement, although Robinson suggested one unnamed player could miss out at Sincil Bank.

He said: “It’s looking healthier, but everyone’s been working really hard to make sure that stays the same.

“We might have one new injury concern, but we’ll keep that until the weekend.”
