CAMERON Brannagan is a doubt for Oxford United's trip to MK Dons, says Karl Robinson.

The midfielder was substituted at half-time of Tuesday’s win at Doncaster Rovers after feeling stiffness in his hamstring.

Robinson suggested after the game that Brannagan could miss Saturday’s Sky Bet League One fixture and, speaking this morning, revealed they will find out more today.

Questioned on whether Brannagan could be available, the U's head coach said: “Who are you asking, me and Amy (Cranston, physio), or him?

“Two out of the three will say no, he will say yes.

“He’s having a scan today, so we’ll know a little bit more.”

Brannagan was replaced by match-winner James Henry, while Marcus McGuane is back playing regularly, and Robinson is confident United could deal with the absence of their influential No 8.

“You’ve seen we don’t fear losing any player at the moment,” he added.

“We have players who can more than cope.

“Marcus prefers playing on the left of the three, so you don’t know what he can do with more games in that position.

“Cameron’s such a big player for us, I think everyone knows how important he is.

“But we’re not going to go into a game talking about how much we’re going to miss somebody, when somebody else is going to have to take his place and find a way of winning.”

The U’s boss also suggested Jack Stevens could return to the squad for the first time in nearly two months.

The goalkeeper’s last game was against Shrewsbury Town on October 19, three days before he was diagnosed with glandular fever.

Stevens has been in full training for a fortnight and United continue to monitor him carefully.

Robinson said: “Jack could be back for Saturday, we’ll have to wait and see how he trains today and tomorrow and see how he copes.

“He was very tired after a difficult session on Monday.”
