OXFORD United fell to sixth in Sky Bet League One after last night’s games.
The U’s were guaranteed to drop a place, with Plymouth Argyle and MK Dons starting the night immediately below them ahead of their clash in Buckinghamshire.
Conor Grant’s second-half strike cancelled out Tennai Watson’s opener for the hosts as the Pilgrims secured a 1-1 draw to go fifth.
Karl Robinson’s side are only a point above seventh-placed MK ahead of their game on Saturday.
Elsewhere in League One, Thelo Aasgaard scored in second-half stoppage-time to give Wigan Athletic a 2-1 win over Shrewsbury Town.
Tendayi Darikwa scored for the Latics inside two minutes, with Ryan Bowman equalising before the break.
But Wigan triumphed in dramatic fashion to move second in the table, level on points with leaders Rotherham United.
Leam Richardson’s side face the U’s at the Kassam Stadium next Saturday.
