OXFORD United Women are aiming to do something no club has managed this season.

The U’s are in Vitality Women’s FA Cup second round action at Ashford Town (Middlesex), who are unbeaten in 2021/22.

The hosts are top of London & South East Regional Women’s Premier and have scored 77 goals in all competitions this season, including a whopping 25-0 win over Highworth Town last month.

Lumsden is well aware of United’s opponents and warned against complacency on Sunday (2pm), despite the two-division gap between the teams.

She said: “I played with a couple of the girls previously and the manager (Luke Tuffs) has been my manager before, so I know them more than some of the girls would.

“They can’t be underestimated.

“I think they’ve scored 60 goals in their league at the moment, so they’re definitely capable of scoring goals.

“We just need to play our game and stick to our standards.

“We prepare the same for a cup game as we do a league game.

“We have a look at the opposition and see where we can exploit them.”

Ashford striker Ashley Cheatley has scored or assisted 35 goals in 12 games and bagged five in the Highworth demolition.

Lumsden leads the charts for United, finding the net 12 times, and the former Charlton Athletic forward admits it is a new experience.

She said: “I’ve never been on form like I have this season.

“I was out a lot last season with injuries, but I’m glad to be back scoring.”
