NATHAN Holland insists Oxford United are not daunted by today’s trip to Wigan Athletic (3pm).

The Latics are second in Sky Bet League One and among the promotion favourites after making several eye-catching signings over the summer.

But sixth-placed United are also eyeing a spot in the Sky Bet Championship next season and arrive at the DW Stadium buoyed by an upturn in results on the road.

The U’s followed impressive victories at Sheffield Wednesday and Burton Albion with a point at Ipswich Town, although they were beaten at Bristol Rovers in the Emirates FA Cup in midweek.

Karl Robinson: We will never have a harder run of fixtures than this

Even so, United’s form has helped instil a no-fear mentality within the squad.

Holland said: “Me and all the players go everywhere with full confidence.

“We know what we can do, we don’t just want to go somewhere for a draw.

“We’ll go for the win and hopefully we can produce a good performance.”

United battled to a stalemate at Ipswich a week ago, with their game management incensing the home fans.

Holland sees parallels between the Tractor Boys and today’s opponents and insists the U’s will be on the front foot.

“I think Ipswich and Wigan are quite similar in the way they play,” the winger said.

“They’re an attacking, expansive team so they’ll have their weak spots.

“Hopefully we can exploit that.”

The West Ham United loanee is one of several players to step up their game in the last two months, helping the U’s to 17 points from their last eight League One matches.

Holland has nailed down a place on the left wing after a stop-start beginning to his second spell at the Kassam Stadium.

The 23-year-old’s 18 appearances this season is already his best for a senior campaign, while he has chipped in with four goals and an assist.

As far as he is concerned, more of the same will do just fine.

Holland said: “I wouldn’t say I have targets, I know stats are a very important part of the game.

“I’ve been getting a few goals after not playing too much at the start.

“I’m very happy with what I’ve got so far and hopefully I can keep getting goals and assists.”
